my prof decided to show this video to us during lecture. and everyone went 'omggg...eeewwww..ahhhhh'

main takeaway from the video

who are we to fight for the rights of children, or define what is their rights when the culture in which these children live in do not even see any problems with their doings. it makes absolute sense to them and they see nth wrong with it. taking on another perspective, some may argue that these children are innocent beings, they may not be willing to go through all these pain but rather, they were forced. are we not infringing these childrens' rights then? do these children even have their rights in the first place?

but if we were to rescue these childrens from these violent acts, what is the implication of doing so? of course, anyone who sees the video, sees what the children have to undergo would feel the urge to rescue these children, free them from such violent acts. but often, it is not possible because we will only be harming the children because they would be rejected by their cultures. become forced migrants in the city and live a life separate from their culture forever and this is going to pose yet another problem. we cant be just looking at the context of children itself and ignore the broader context of the culture.

in fact, all societies have their own concepts of what constitute a child's right. these rights are culture dependent and it is not as easy as it seems to just enter a culture and simply change the way they live because the cultures in which these people lived in are the results of hundred of years of socialisation and to change the way these people think is clearly not possible. well, maybe we can if we try inject new concepts to them for the next 100years.

ok! didnt know i can talk so much random stuff. back to work!
